Mental Health Therapist

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Florida Registered Intern or Florida Licensed clinical therapist in Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health or Clinical Social Work, or license eligible with one year’s experience working with sexually abused children and their families. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

  • Must have valid Florida driver's license, current auto insurance and be approved as a driver by HND’s insurance carrier.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain sufficient caseload to meet the needs of clients and the agency. Meet outcomes and objectives of the assigned program area. Provide legal and ethical delivery, advocating for client rights.  Deliver counseling services for individuals and families with a variety of mental health needs.  Additional training in trauma counseling in accordance with the Children’s Medical Services Sexual Abuse Treatment Program available.

 

BENEFITS:

Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid

Pay: $36,400 per year.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services field.  Five years of like experience may be substituted.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The C.A.R.E.S. Coordinator provides in-home services to families at high risk for entering the child welfare system to include education, safety planning, and assessment. 

  • Using a strength based approach the Coordinator builds, and facilitates, a care team comprised of family, community and professional supports to assist the family in carrying out the goals written in the treatment plan.

Peer Support/Family Partner

Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid

Pay: $33,800 per year.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma required.  Associate degree or equivalent preferred.  

  • Three years’ experience navigating the Child Welfare System and formal experience as a consumer, foster or adoptive parent.  The Family Partner is a peer position that assists families in navigating the child protective system (DCF and Community Partnership for Children) through sharing what the Family Partner learned and experienced in when they themselves were involved in the system. Due to the nature of the job, it is a requirement of this position that you have actual personal experience involving DCF, CPC and/or the Courts regarding child neglect and/or abuse.  

  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license, current auto insurance and be insurable by the Agency’s liability carrier.  Travel throughout Volusia, Flagler and Putnam Counties and doing in-home visits are required.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This is a liaison position involving the support and coordination of services for caregivers and families who require diversion and prevention supports.

  • The Family Partner will work in concert with the Care Coordinator to conduct strength discoveries and co-lead Family Team Conferencing.

  • The Family Partner engages through education and provides direct support, helps carry out crisis stabilization, models a strength-based approach, is a team member as needed and temporary surrogate support.

  • The Family Partner carries out plan strategies, links families to natural supports and community resources, helps families complete paperwork and model parenting skills.

After-school Group Leader/Tutor/Mentor
Prevention Specialist

Job Type: Part-Time.  
Pay: $12,480 annual pay at 16 hours per week.

The House Next Door is seeking an Afterschool Group Leader/Tutor/Mentor who is looking to make a difference in the lives of children and their families. The Homework Club is a safe place for elementary aged children to go to after school where they receive assistance with homework and have fun!

 

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates Degree preferred. 3 years like experience to substitute for degree.

  • Experience working with elementary age children.

  • Understanding of child development, behavior management. Must have group, tutoring and computer skills.

  • Must have valid Florida driver's license, current auto insurance and be insurable by the Agency’s liability carrier.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Afterschool group leader/tutor.

  • Assist with homework of various grade levels.

  • Conduct group activities.

  • Conduct parent conferences as needed.

  • Physically capable to interact and play with children.

  • Maintain strong relationships with the elementary schools children attend.

  • Provide life skill development lessons and mentoring of youth.

  • This position may also increase to 30 hours per week with the addition of our TEAMS component, which reaches out to community groups for mentoring and introducing the Positive Action Curriculum.  Participants are aged 11- 17 and are members of a sports, dance or academic team.  If added to the position, there will be an additional 3 hours per day that would go until about 8:00 pm.

 

BENEFITS: 

  • Accrual of paid time off and 10 paid holidays per year.

  • Part Time Position with the potential to increase to 30 hours a week. 

  • Current days and hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

The program is year-round with summer hours 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  School breaks are the same hours as summer, but days depend on the break itself.

  • Must be able to pass a Level II Background Clearance

  • Experience working in a three-year-old classroom

  • Required to have or obtain 45 hours of required DCF training within the first 90 days of employment

  • CDA preferred, or willing to obtain

  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications or required to obtain within the first 30 days of employment

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow the Center’s curriculum

  • Ensure the daily care of every child while following DCF guidelines

  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom

  • Communicate directly to parents and administration with a positive and professional attitude

  • Flexible and dependable team player
