​​Mental Health Therapist

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,760 per year.

The HND is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Therapist who advocates for change, instills hope and listens with compassion.  Inspiring growth and making a difference is what we do every day.  We believe family is the foundation as We Nurture and Empower Families to help build Stronger Communities.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Florida Registered Intern or Florida Licensed clinical therapist in Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health or Clinical Social Work, or license eligible with one year’s experience working with sexually abused children and their families. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

  • Must have valid Florida driver's license, current auto insurance and be approved as a driver by HND’s insurance carrier.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain sufficient caseload to meet the needs of clients and the agency. Meet outcomes and objectives of the assigned program area. Provide legal and ethical delivery, advocating for client rights.  Deliver counseling services for individuals and families with a variety of mental health needs.  Additional training in trauma counseling in accordance with the Children’s Medical Services Sexual Abuse Treatment Program available.

 

BENEFITS:

  • 3 weeks of paid time off in your first year of employment, increasing to 5 weeks for years 2 – 5. 10 paid holidays per year. 10 paid holidays per year.

Peer Support/Family Partner

Job Type: Monday – Friday, no late nights or weekends  
Pay: $33,800 /yr

Location: Full Time Position based in DeLand that will be covering Volusia, Flagler and Putnam Counties.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree or equivalent preferred.

  • Three years’ experience navigating the Child Welfare System and formal experience as a consumer, foster or adoptive parent.

  • The Family Partner is a peer position that assists families in navigating the child protective system (DCF and Community Partnership for Children) through sharing what the Family Partner learned and experienced in when they themselves were involved in the system. Due to the nature of the job, it is a requirement of this position that you have actual personal experience involving DCF, CPC and/or the Courts regarding child neglect and/or abuse.  

  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license, current auto insurance and be insurable by the Agency’s liability carrier.  

  • Travel throughout Volusia, Flagler and Putnam Counties and doing in-home visits are required.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This is a liaison position involving the support and coordination of services for caregivers and families who require diversion and prevention support.

  • The Family Partner will work in concert with the Care Coordinator to conduct strength discoveries and co-lead Family Team Conferencing.

  • The Family Partner engages through education and provides direct support, helps carry out crisis stabilization, models a strength-based approach, is a team member as needed and temporary surrogate support.  

  • Communicate directly to parents and administration with a positive and professional attitude

  • The Family Partner carries out plan strategies, links families to natural supports and community resources, helps families complete paperwork and model parenting skills.

School Based Prevention Specialist

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37,400 per year. 

BASED AT:  Starke Elementary School, DeLand, FL

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor level with background and coursework in psychology, child development behavior disorders, group skills, behavior management and family counseling.

  • Knowledge of child development.

  • Knowledge of phonetic reading practices.

  • Basic understanding of family systems.

  • Must have a valid Florida driver's license, current auto insurance and be approved as a driver by HND’s insurance carrier. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide school based and in-home counseling according to the child’s needs. 

  • Prepare and maintain all behavioral plans and reports concerning the child’s progress in the program. 

  • Involve each child in group and individual support sessions.

  • Basic understanding of family systems.

  • Maintain a caseload of 20-22 students and their caregivers.

  • Lead an after-school and during school breaks Reading Club for third grade students.

  • Conduct individual sessions a minimum of weekly per student.

  • Conduct group sessions a minimum of once a week per group.

  • Conduct a Super Friday group weekly for each group.

  • Conduct parent sessions bi-monthly with 90% occurring in the home.

  • Maintains strong communication with student’s teachers to identify challenges, needs, and track progress.

  • Complete documentation within 48 hours of contact.

  • Collect report cards for each student.

  • Competence in phonetic based reading practices.

  • Complete school-based assessments and create a service plan per student.

  • Competence in utilizing electronic health records.
